Engineering Apprentice CRT 2560

An exciting opportunity has become available within the KCOM Group. We are looking to recruit an Engineering Apprentice to work within the KC brand. This role will be employed on a Fixed Term Contract earning the National Apprentice Wage.

Based at Salvesen Way Hull, the Apprentice Engineer will work within / support a team of Field Engineering. The role will involve travel across the region to both Business and Consumer (residential) customer premises. This role will involve working from heights as well as within confined spaces on a regular basis.

The main function of the Engineering Apprentice is to undertake installation and maintenance duties at customer premises, ensuring the delivery of broadband and telephony services. The role will have the following key responsibilities:

Respond to Customers requiring assistance by telephone and/or on-site, seeking assistance if necessary, so as to fix the fault and/or implement a workaround solution that meets standards and customer needs.
Maximise business development opportunities, as and when appropriate, taking action and passing on relevant information for action by others.
Support the installation process through configuration and testing of relevant equipment to required standards if and when required.
Maximise customer benefit through the provision of technical advice and support whenever the opportunity arises.
Follow prescribed operational and safety procedures so as to achieve the required standards of service and minimise the risks to self and others.
Contribute to the overall improvement of engineering services through the identification and championing of new ideas and better ways of working.

We are looking for candidates with the following skills, knowledge & experience:
Good communication/interpersonal skills with the ability to converse professionally at all levels.
Analytical thinking / problem solving skills.
An attention to quality and accuracy.
PC literate with good knowledge and experience using MS Office (desirable).
Understanding and interest in the Telecommunications Industry in particular broadband technology.
Good level of practical skills when working with hand tools.
Good standard in Maths and English.
Passion and enthusiasm to learn and develop skills.
UK driving license would be advantageous however not essential.
